Canyon High School STFers decorated their library display and school hallways with posters featuring articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in honor of Human Rights Day on December 10, 2019. “We wanted to create the library display because it’s very visible to students who hang out in and around the library. It has information on both the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the UDHR, and information about STF and our past campaigns. We hope it will pique the interest of possible members and educate students on rights and documents that they likely are not aware of,” said the chapter president. Photo by Nina Pedro

With a goal of starting a conversation about how children’s rights are impacted by climate change, Da Vinci Schools STFers hosted a presentation for classmates, family members and friends on December 11, 2019. They explained the science behind climate change, looked at climate change as a cause for people fleeing their homes and highlighted youth advocates fighting to save the environment. After the presentation, the students had their guests walk through three experience tents to learn more about these issues, as well as provided opportunities for participants to register or preregister to vote. On December 10, 2019 New Roads STF educated their whole school about each presidential candidate’s position on climate change, their environmental voting record and which climate-impacting companies were donating money to their campaigns. At lunch the next day, members followed up their presentation by preregistering people to vote and making climate change pledges to reduce their carbon footprints. Photo by Sean Brookes
